She Puts In Work Middle School Showcase

So I made another trip to Oklahoma and scouted the talent at the She Puts In Work Middle School Showcase. This camp featured players from all across Oklahoma, as well as Arkansas and Missouri. This camp allowed players to showcase their skills in a variety of ways. Players showed off their ball handling and shooting during the skill portion of the camp. There was also a 1v1 tournament, 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 games. Let’s take a look at some of the players that stood out and showcased their skills.

Sophia Vogel | Guard | Oklahoma | 2029

Standing at 5’6 in the class of 2029 is good size. A lot of players with this much length is typically thrown on the block and told to be a post player. Sophia has really good size for her age but she’s a perimeter player. She has a good skill sett and it was on full display during the skill portion of the camp. She has a nice handle and a really good shooting form. Her handles is crafty to get by defenders and into the lane. Her shooting is respectable and can knock down the catch and shoot jumper. She understands how to use her size o get the spots on the floor that she wants to. She’s also a good finisher and a solid defender with a good IQ.

Faith Sartor | Post | Arkansas | 2027

Faith stands at 6’2 and demands a lot of attention on the low block. She also possesses skills to be able to play on the perimeter. Faith did a good job of moving without the ball and relocating off screens and dribble hand-offs. She has a nice touch around the basket and with her jump shot. She has the ability to attack closeouts from the perimeter and get to the rim for the finish. She’s a good on ball defender, but I think she’s a better help defender. Her length gives her the ability to block and alter shots in the lane and secure the defensive rebound.

Teagan Snodgrass | Guard | Kansas | 2029

Teagan was one of four 2029 players that attended the camp. She’s a crafty guard with good size for her age. She played strong when playing in the 1v1 tournament. She displayed good footwork on her finishes, especially with her up and under finish. She shoot the mid-range, can handle the ball vs pressure, can make plays for others off the dribble, and has a good IQ.

Aaliyah Burris-Chism | Guard | Oklahoma | 2027

Aaliyah had an excellent showing at the showcase. If I was going to give out a MVP, it would definitely go to Aaliyah. She brought so much energy and effort on both sides of the ball. Her athleticism was on full display on offense as she used her quickness and speed to get by the defense. Once in the lane she showed her unselfishness by setting up her teammates with on-target passing for easy catch and shoot opportunities or lay-ups. Aaliyah could also finish around the rim and has good range on her jumper.

Aliyah Miller | Guard | Arkansas | 2027

Aliyah had a solid showing at the showcase. What I enjoyed most about watching her play is that she is going to play the game the right way. You sometimes get players in showcase camps that try to do too much, but not Aliyah. She has a good IQ, she’s unselfish, has a nice handle that allows her to get in the paint and make plays. She has a respectable jumper so the defense has to close out hard when she catches. By being ready to shoot, this allows her to knock down the open jumper or attack off the dribble.

Kendi Spencer | WIng | Oklahoma | 2028

When you are matched up against Kendi you better bring your hard hat. Kendi is a physical player that is going to play tough on offense and defense. Defensively she likes you get all up in your air space and make you uncomfortable. Her physical on-ball pressure keeps the offensive player from driving in straight lines and typically forces them to take shots they don’t want to take. On offense she likes to use her body to create space. When driving she does a good job of getting into the defense to get them off balance to create space. When she doesn’t have the ball you have to put a body on her when the shot goes up. She would often crash the board hard for the offensive rebound.

Jaida Crawford | Wing | Arkansas | 2027

Jaida played hard the entire day. From the first drill to the last game, Jaida gave really good effort. She’s a good size wing that can play multiple positions and just about guard anyone on the floor. A good athlete that can be hard to stay in front of in half-court or in transition. She attack off the bounce, make plays off the catch, make open jumpers, and crashes the board hard on offense. Jaida is also not afraid of physical play. She can play through contact and finish plays where she is fouled.
